Introduction:

The Rhône Glacier  is a glacier in the Swiss Alps and the source of the river Rhône and one of the primary contributors to Lake Geneva in the far eastern end of the Swiss canton of Valais. Because the Glacier is located close to the Furka Pass road it is easily accessible.

Facts:

In those days, the guests of the Hotels Glacier du Rhone were able to dine with a view onto the nearby ice flow. Nowadays, the Gletsch nature trail gives an impression of what was once the mighty presence of the Rhone Glacier.

There are no border controls between countries that have signed and implemented this treaty - the European Union , Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.Major international airports are in Zurich, Geneva and Basel, with smaller airports in Lugano and Berne. Flying into nearby Milan , Lyon or even Paris (France), Frankfurt (Germany), or Munich (Germany) are other options though rather expensive and time-consuming by train.
